THE LIVE COURSE IS PRESENTLY RUNNING. YOU CAN STILL PROCURE PARTICIPATION, JUST BE AWARE THAT SOME OF THE LECTURES WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE IN RECORDED FORM.

What is landconnectedness? and how do we get it back?. The Nordic Animism platform offers nine live online-lectures and discussions on this question with Rune Hjarnø. The lectures will be recorded for online access if you should miss one.

We will look at different specific ways of sacralising landscape elements, like rocks, trees, mounds and so on. We will look at the spirit beings associated with these landscape elements and the offerings and other ceremony protocols of engaging these beings.

High-level

The course combines the cutting edge of indigenous scholarship with the founding material of Nordic folklore. The objective is to make available the knowledge that you need in order to begin your own journey of working towards landconnectedness.

Animist

We will be considering relation to landscape elements, a course aspect of animism, - what rituals and forms of culture has served to inscribe people into relation with their landscapes.

Rune Hjarnø Rasmussen Ph.D

Historian of Religion, Ph.d., educated from the Universities of Uppsala and Copenhagen.

Rune has lived in many countries and done fieldwork in a number of contemporary (primarily Afro-descendant) religions, but since childhood he has had Nordic religion as a strong field of interest.

Today Rune is working on applying contemporary developments in anthropology to rethink the way we address Nordic religion both in terms of scholarship, but also as a reservoir of cultural knowledge for environmental activism and sustainability sensitization.
