04 ANIMISM AS DECOLONIAL - (Animism as resistance to Modernity and whiteness)

Animist aspects of culture and knowledge is is generally rejected in modernity. This is a process of colonization that has been internalized on euro-descended people making us “white people” and this process is characterised by a packed of cultural rejection that is basically the same package that was historically targetted at colonized peoples. I.E – this is basically a self-colonization that has played out historically and in some ways is – in fact – ongoing! This is why approaching animism has an aspect of being a decolonial resistance to Modernity and a critical deconstruction of whiteness, that can serve to open decolonial paths out of whiteness towards traditional way of being in the world.
